A 12-Minute Drive from Hampden to a Calm, Light-Filled Studio

From Hampden, my Lutherville studio takes about twelve minutes north — Falls Road or I-83, then a short stretch through Lutherville-Timonium. Most families take I-83; it’s the most direct route outside of rush hour.
The studio is set up so you don’t need to think about anything once you arrive:
- Reserved parking right at the door
- Warm, controlled temperature for baby
- A quiet, private room for nursing or settling in
- Wraps, swaddles, headbands, bonnets, and baskets ready
- A wardrobe closet for parents and siblings if you’d like to use it
You bring the baby. I handle the rest.
What Hampden Families Get with Their Newborn Session

Newborn sessions at my studio are posed sessions — what some families call classic newborn photography. The studio is set up specifically for newborn safety and quality: warm controlled temperature, professional lighting, soundproofed rooms, and an extensive collection of wraps, props, and baskets — a fully-equipped environment that consistently produces gallery-grade results.
Your baby will be photographed:
- Sleeping in soft wraps and bare-skin curls
- In parent arms and against parent skin
- With siblings included (if you’d like)
- In careful basket and bowl setups
Sessions last two to three hours. That sounds long, but it moves easily because we work around feeds, naps, and any pauses your baby needs.
Why Hampden Families Choose Ana Koska Photography

I’ve been photographing newborns for over fifteen years — making this my full-time, specialized focus longer than most photographers currently working in the Hampden area.
My work has been recognized as the Best Newborn Photographer in Baltimore in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024 — five separate years of independent recognition voted by Baltimore Magazine readers and editors. Hampden is Baltimore — these are the awards directly relevant to families in your neighborhood.
Featured on Reuters, MSNBC, NBC, Fox, and ABC News.
Hampden families researching newborn photographers are looking for someone with consistent, recognized, gallery-quality work — and the experience to handle every baby with the same calm, careful approach regardless of how the session unfolds. That’s what fifteen years of newborn specialization and five Best of Baltimore awards represent.
Here’s what’s included. Newborn sessions start at $600 for the MINI package (5 digital images and a gallery of 20). The RUBY package is $900 (10 digital images, 50-70 gallery), and DIAMOND is $1,100 (20 digital images, 50-70 gallery). Whichever package you choose, the session itself is a half-day investment — and the gallery is what stays on your walls for the next fifteen years.
When to Book Your Newborn Session

The best time to schedule a newborn session is during your second trimester, before things get hectic. Booking early secures a window in your due-date range.
The actual session happens within the first five to fourteen days after your baby is born — when newborns still curl easily and sleep deeply.
Hampden families have several great delivery options depending on what fits your care plan. Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) — about 15 to 20 minutes north in Towson — was named “Best Place to Deliver Your Baby” by Baltimore’s Child Magazine in 2024 and is a popular choice for families in north Baltimore. MedStar Union Memorial Hospital (just minutes from Hampden on East University Parkway), Mercy Medical Center (downtown, with the well-known Weinberg Center for Women’s Health), and Johns Hopkins Hospital (the major academic medical center downtown) are also common Hampden choices. Wherever you deliver, once you’re settled at home, call or message me and we schedule the session for whatever day works best in that first two-week window.
Hampden Newborn Photography Notes

Hampden is one of Baltimore’s most distinctive neighborhoods — quirky, walkable, and full of character. The heart is 36th Street (“The Avenue”), with its independent shops, vintage stores, and restaurants. Every summer, the neighborhood hosts HonFest — a celebration of Baltimore’s classic “Hon” culture — and every December, the lights on 34th Street draw visitors from across the region. It’s a neighborhood that takes itself seriously about not taking itself too seriously.
Many of the parents I photograph from Hampden are people who chose this neighborhood for the character — and who bring that same intentionality to how they document their baby’s first weeks. Whether you’re a first-time parent in a row house off The Avenue, a young family up by Wyman Park, or coming back for a second or third newborn session, the approach is the same: a calm pace, careful safety, and a gallery you’ll keep for a lifetime. Hampden is part of my broader Baltimore newborn photography service across the city.

Do you photograph at our Hampden home, or only in the studio?
Newborn sessions are studio-only at my Lutherville-Timonium location, about twelve minutes north of Hampden. The studio is purpose-built for newborn photography with controlled temperature, professional lighting, sound dampening, and an extensive prop and wrap collection. Families don’t need to prepare anything at home — the drive is shorter than the prep an in-home session would typically require.
When should we book if delivering at GBMC?
Book during your second trimester to secure your due-date window. GBMC is about 15 to 20 minutes north of Hampden in Towson — a popular choice for north Baltimore families. If you deliver at MedStar Union Memorial, Mercy Medical Center, or Johns Hopkins Hospital, the timing is the same — the actual session happens within the first five to fourteen days after your baby is born.
Can siblings and family be in the session?
Yes. Sibling and parent portraits are part of the session. We typically do those first while everyone is fresh, then move to baby-only setups. Many Hampden families bring older siblings — the studio is calm and child-friendly.
