A 13-Minute Drive from Homeland to a Calm, Light-Filled Studio

Posed newborn photo from a Homeland family's studio session

From Homeland, my Lutherville studio takes about thirteen minutes north — straight up Charles Street, or hop on I-83 from York Road for an even faster trip. The studio is fully equipped and ready when you arrive — you bring nothing but the baby.

The studio is set up so you don’t need to think about anything once you arrive:

  • Reserved parking right at the door
  • Warm, controlled temperature for baby
  • A quiet, private room for nursing or settling in
  • Wraps, swaddles, headbands, bonnets, and baskets ready
  • A wardrobe closet for parents and siblings if you’d like to use it

You bring the baby. I handle the rest.

What Homeland Families Get with Their Newborn Session

Newborn baby with older sibling, Homeland family session

Newborn sessions at my studio are posed sessions — what some families call classic newborn photography. The studio is set up specifically for newborn safety and quality: warm controlled temperature, professional lighting, soundproofed rooms, and an extensive collection of wraps, props, and baskets — a fully-equipped environment that consistently produces gallery-grade results.

Your baby will be photographed:

  • Sleeping in soft wraps and bare-skin curls
  • In parent arms and against parent skin
  • With siblings included (if you’d like)
  • In careful basket and bowl setups

Sessions last two to three hours. That sounds long, but it moves easily because we work around feeds, naps, and any pauses your baby needs.

Why Homeland Families Choose Ana Koska Photography

Homeland parents holding their newborn during studio portrait session

I’ve been photographing newborns for over fifteen years — full-time newborn specialization. Newborns require careful posing, specialized lighting setup, and someone who’s seen everything that can happen during a session. That’s what fifteen years of full-time newborn work gives you.

My work has been recognized as the Best Newborn Photographer in Baltimore in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024 — five separate years of independent recognition voted by Baltimore Magazine readers and editors. For Homeland families researching photographers, that consistency matters: it means the work holds up year after year.

Newborn sessions start at $600 for the MINI package (5 digital images and a gallery of 20). The RUBY package is $900 (10 digital images, 50-70 gallery), and DIAMOND is $1,100 (20 digital images, 50-70 gallery). Each package includes a 2-3 hour studio session with a five-time Best of Baltimore winner.

When to Book Your Newborn Session in Homeland

The best time to schedule a newborn session is during your second trimester, before things get hectic. Booking early secures a window in your due-date range.

The actual session happens within the first five to fourteen days after your baby is born — when newborns still curl easily and sleep deeply.

Most Homeland families deliver at GBMC (Greater Baltimore Medical Center) in Towson — about six minutes north of Homeland. Some families also choose Sinai Hospital in northwest Baltimore, Johns Hopkins Hospital in downtown, or Mercy Medical Center — wherever you deliver, once you’re settled at home, call or message me and we schedule the session for whatever day works best in that first two-week window.

Step What Happens When
1️⃣ Book Reach out during your second trimester and we’ll save your due-date window. Second trimester
2️⃣ Session 2-3 hour studio session at Lutherville-Timonium, 13 minutes from Homeland. 5-14 days after birth
3️⃣ Gallery View and select your favorites from a private online gallery. 2 weeks after session

Homeland Newborn Photography Notes

Homeland is a historic planned community developed by the Roland Park Company in 1924 — designed with tree-lined boulevards, established residential streets, and a tight-knit neighborhood feel that’s lasted a century. Families here often span multiple generations in the same neighborhood.

Homeland is part of the broader Baltimore newborn photography service area, with regular families from across northern Baltimore — Roland Park, Guilford, Mount Washington — all within a short drive of the studio. The Best of Baltimore awards (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2024) span the same neighborhoods I’ve been photographing for over fifteen years.

Homeland Family Reviews

“Ana is a great family photographer! She’s great with kids and we always end up with the best candid pics. Highly recommend!”

★★★★★

“Ana was a dream to work with! I was very hesitant to even have maternity photos taken. Ana made my husband and I feel incredibly comfortable throughout the session – and for me, I have never felt so beautiful! She let us know that we were in charge and also did a wonderful job giving us pointers on poses and angles.

I was so impressed with Ana’s professionalism, kindness, and creativity that we immediately booked her for our upcoming newborn photos as well.

If I could give her more than 5 stars, I would!!”

Do you photograph at our Homeland home, or only in the studio?

Newborn sessions are studio-only at my Lutherville-Timonium location, about thirteen minutes north of Homeland. The studio is purpose-built for newborn photography with controlled temperature, professional lighting, sound dampening, and an extensive prop and wrap collection. Homeland families don’t need to prepare anything at home — the drive is short and reserved parking is right at the studio door.

Book during your second trimester to secure your due-date window. GBMC (Greater Baltimore Medical Center) in Towson is right in Homeland’s backyard and is the most popular delivery choice for Homeland families — just six minutes north of Homeland.
